Tri for the Cure

Tri for the Cure is a women's only triathlon benefitting the Denver Metropolitan Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. The triathlon is sprint distance - 1/2 mile swim, 12 mile bike and 3.1 mile run. This unique triathlon experience is designed to attract women of all athletic abilities from elite to first-time triathletes. Volunteers are crucial in making sure the event is rewarding and fun for the women participating along with the thousands of spectators. All volunteers will receive a volunteer t-shirt.

A portion of the proceeds from the Tri for the Cure will go to the Denver Metropolitan Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

TFC Positions

Close All | Open All

Help monitor the fence line between spectators on the bike course hill and the bike course itself. This will help insure both participant and spectator safety.

Volunteers will need to be on site at 5:30 am and stay on post until the last bike gets back into the transition area at about 11:00 am.

To assist the timing company in order to insure the proper timing and scoring of the individual race components and the overall race. Assist in helping to provide proper back-up to the race timig chips.

Volunteers will assist in assembling goodie bags which will be given to race participants at the pre-race expo.

Volunteers must fulfill the following requirements:

  • Volunteers must be at least 8 years old.

 

Volunteers will assist in distributing race materials including timing chip, race bib and shirts to pre registered participants. All 3,500 registrants are required to attend packet pick up. Volunteers who stay all day will be provided lunch.

From: 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Volunteers must fulfill the following requirements:

  • Volunteers must be at least 16 years old.
  • Volunteers must be able to work in a fast paced environment.

 

Volunteers will assist in distributing goodie bags, swim caps and race shirts to race participants. Volunteers who stay all day will be provided lunch.

From: 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Volunteers must fulfill the following requirements:

  • Volunteers must be at least 13 years old.
  • Volunteers must be able to work in a fast paced environment.

 

Volunteers will assist in body marking the race numbers onto the arms and legs of the athletes for timing purposes.

From: 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Volunteers must fulfill the following requirements:

  • Volunteers must be at least 16 years old.
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced environment.
  • VOLUNTEERS MUST BE FEMALE.

 

This volunteer will assist the participants in the Transition Area of the event. Volunteer will be expected to keep transition area clear of all individuals who are not in the race. Volunteers in this position will receive special parking access due to the early hour.

From:4:45 am to 10:00 am.

Volunteers must fulfill the following requirements:

  • Volunteers must be at least 16 years old.
  • Must be able to work in a crowded fast paced environment.
  • VOLUNTEERS MUST BE FEMALE.

This position will be needed to assist event staff within the swim start area in athlete support and management, including but not limited to timing equipment replacement. The person may also act as a “spotter” at the swim finish.

From: 5:15 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

Volunteers must fulfill the following requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Needs to be able to work in hectic environment.

 

This volunteer will assist in day of packet pickup.

From: 5:00 am to 8:00 am

Volunteers must fulfill the following requirements:

  • Must be at least 16 years old.
  • No minimum requirements.

 

This volunteer will assist in directing participants on the correct route of the race course. Volunteers will also be expected to direct spectators as to when/where to safely cross the course (at designated areas).

From: 6:45 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Volunteers must fulfill the following requirements:

  • Volunteers must be at least 16 years old.
  • Must be able to work in a crowded fast paced environment.

 

This position will monitor the swim portion of the race in order to assist with any emergency water situations throughout the event. Lifeguards will be assisting participants from out of the water and from within the water.

From: 6:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

Volunteers must fulfill the following requirements:

  • This position is open to trained lifeguards only.
  • Lifeguards are requested to bring their own floatation device.

 

This volunteer will assist in the timing and scoring of participants. Volunteers may also assist in handing out of medals to participants as they cross the finish line.

Volunteers must fulfill the following requirements:

  • Must be at least 16 years old.
  • Must be able to work in a crowded fast paced environment.

 

This volunteer will assist setting up and filling of water cups for distribution to the athletes on the course.

From: 6:45 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Volunteers must fulfill the following requirements:

  • Must be at least 12 years old.
  • Must be able to work in a crowded fast paced environment.

 

This volunteer will assist setting up and distribution of food and beverage in post race area to participants.

From: 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Volunteers must fulfill the following requirements:

  • Must be at least 12 years old.
  • Must be able to work in a crowded fast paced environment.

 

To assist with swimmer safety in the reservoir during the swim portion of the event. Safety Boaters serve as a "rest point" for tired swimmers when necessary, and as spotters for any swimmers in need of assistance.

Volunteers must fulfill the following requirements:

  • Safety boater will be required to provide their own kayak equipment.

 

Hand out medals to competitors as they cross the finish line.

From: 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Volunteers must fulfill the following requirements:

  • Must be at least 13 years old.
  • Needs to be able to work in hectic environment.

 

Accompany athletes who may be uncomfortable or nervous during the swim portion of the event. The Buddy does not physically assist the swimmer, but instead swims along side the swimmer to provide encouragement and comfort.
